Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is recognized for her outstanding performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, including The Oscar for her film Piano. The talented actress began her acting career on stage in various Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. It has been an integral part of her love of life. In the fifth grade she acted as Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear following a bout of the mumps virus, however she did not let this disability dampen the determination of her to become an actress. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Hunter had her Broadway debut following a chance encounter together with Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. She has appeared in countless films, TV series and feature films throughout the course of her career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
